This policy explains how Access2Sciences collects, uses and protects your information when you use our platform. By using the service you agree to the practices described here.
What we collect
We collect information you provide directly (such as your name and email when you create an account or sign in), usage data (pages read, searches performed, downloads), and technical data (IP address, browser type). When you sign in through your institution, we receive identity attributes from your identity provider that we use only to recognise you.
How we use it
We use this information to deliver and personalise the platform, enforce licence entitlements (including IP-based institutional access), measure content usage for COUNTER-compliant reporting, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your personal data.
Institutional access & IP recognition
To serve licensed content, we may match your network address against institutional IP ranges supplied by libraries. This tells us which entitlements apply; it does not reveal your identity to the publisher. When you sign in via SSO, your identity provider tells us who you are; we store your email and a subject identifier so we can return you to your account.
Cookies & storage
We use a locally stored session token to keep you signed in. This token is held in your browser's local storage and is never shared with third parties. You can clear it at any time by signing out.
Data sharing
We share usage statistics with publishers and libraries only in aggregate, COUNTER-compliant form (for example journal-usage reports). We may share data with processors that help us run the service (hosting, analytics), under contractual obligations of confidentiality.
Retention & your rights
We retain personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your data; contact us and we will respond promptly.
